I made a google forms questionnaire to see what my target audience preferred. I sent this to my friends (who are 16-18 years old: my target audience) and I got 11 responses back..

Do you have any ideas for settings? (if possible any specific places (streets, shops, addresses...)

  • Park

  • Tunnels, streets in Malasaña, contrast between colours and unsaturated palettes. Vintage areas such as vintage shops or even washing machine shops yk like the ones in America

  • Center of Madrid

  • Vintage shops, graffiti walls, Retiro, the oven on gran via is floral, pink hair salon

  • a park, swimming pool? street at night, coffee shop, museum, walking through empty street, field.

  • i think old simple vintage settings such as coffee shops, ice cream shops, cinemas, all have a sense of nostalgia

Do you know any music videos, movies, artists, literally anything that has a similar vibe to Pink + White by Frank Ocean

  • Summer themed

  • Tyler the creator , Jaden and willow

  • brent faiyaz, kevin abstract, childish gambino, steve lacy

  • sza and daniel caesar really reminds me of frank. if i had to describe them i would sat they explored the genre of neo soul

I appreciated all the ideas for the settings and I will soon be going to the center of Madrid searching for possible locations and taking pictures.

I was expecting that they would prefer the 16:9 aspect ratio, but I wanted to use 4:3 to make it look more vintage (like Grace Vanderwaal’s music video). Now I will have to think more about this: I might include most shots in 16:9 and then some in 4:3 for a bit of contrast, or just use 4:3 all around despite these questionnaire results. Or maybe I decide to use 16:9 after all… But I do think that 4:3 would make the vintage effect more prominent, and more obvious, but it’s about the balance after all so maybe a vintage filter is enough.
